Merry Fluffy Christmas: Sponsor Spotlight **Rockin Green** (extra entries!)

If you're a cloth diapering parent and you haven't heard of Rockin Green laundry detergent, I might ask you where  you've been and then tell you all the wonderful things you're missing out on. I admit that I haven't tried a whole lot of different brands of detergent on my diapers, but that is honestly because Rockin Green was the second brand I ever tried and it worked so well that I didn't see the need to try anything else!

It gets the stinkies out, rinses clean and has helped keep my diapers looking fresh and new. Rockin Green comes in several yummy, all natural scents and three different formulas, so there's bound to be a formula combination perfect for you! It's biodegradable, phosphate (and other yucky stuff) free, never tested on animals and works in hard or soft water. Not sure what type of water you have, check out the handy map on the Rockin Green website to help you figure it out.

I was sent 3 samples to try for review purposes. I chose Orangevana, Smashing Watermelons and Motley Clean in hard rock. Let me tell you, they all smell sooooooo good!!!  So, as suggested when you begin with Rockin Green, you should soak your diapers for a while (rock a soak) to help get out all the grossness. I ran the diapers through a cold wash cycle, no soap and then soaked them in hot overnight, with 3 tablespoons and this is what I woke up to:

Nasty! Rockin Green got out all that diaper nastiness and, after a couple rinses, the diapers came out  clean and smelling fresh. Not perfume-y, just clean! It not only works good at busting up the stinkies, it gets out tough stains, too. Oh, and, if you didn't know already: Rockin Green plus sunning equals the cleanest, freshest diapers you've ever seen!!! I just love this stuff, for other laundry, too. And you don't need a whole lot of it either, just 1-2 tablespoons for a full load.
There are just so many cool things about this company and this detergent, I could go on forever. They recently started offering Rockin Rewards when you make purchases. They've also expanded their inventory to include dryer balls and diaper rash cream. If you don't want to commit to a big bag of soap, you can always order samples.

Convinced yet? Buy some here, a 45/90 load bag is just $13.95 for soft or classic rock and $15.95 for hard rock!

Or

win some!

For A Merry Fluffy Christmas, Rockin Green has generously offered to give one of my lucky readers a 45/90 bag of detergent in choice of scent and formula!

Fluff Talk Thursday-ammonia, ewwww

I'm very excited to get tips and advice from other cloth diapering mothers through participation in Fluff Talk Thursday, over at Happily Domestic. Link up to share you best cloth diapering advice/tips/solutions and get some from other mamas. Thanks, Beth, for hosting this great resource!

Like many other cd mamas, I've battled the ammonia blues before. The biggest problem time by far is night time! My daughter sleeps 10-12 hours and is a SUPER heavy wetter, seriously, this girl's diaper must weigh around 3 pounds in the morning. I'm afraid I'm gonna make a hole in the floor from dropping her diaper to the ground in the same spot every morning. As soon as I walk into her room in the morning I get a big whiff of the wonderful aroma.

Even though I pretty much only use Bum Genius at night, which have a stay dry liner, my daughter's skin has been affected ammonia burn. My daughter also has issues with yeast (and that's a whole other post!), but one product I've found that works great for pretty much any bottom issue is Earth Mama Angel Baby's Baby Bottom Balm. And, a BIG plus, it's organic, all natural and cloth diaper safe!!! I also give my daughter some diaper-free naked time at night, after bath time to help air things out. Sometimes I'll use a fitted, natural fabrics are best, without a cover during the day and change often. Airing out the bottom is probably the best thing you can do to help it heal from ammoina burn.

For the ammonia smell issues, my best suggestions are Rockin Green detergent and sunning. I can't say enough good things about Rockin Green (you can look through my past posts for more than a couple praises about it). Soaking my diapers, and wipes, don't forget about them, once in a while and washing regularly in RnG has almost completley wiped out the ammonia stink problem for me. Sunning (line drying your diapers outside) your diapers will help keep them stain-free and smelling fresh. The UV rays of the sun are also know to help kill bacteria, the main cause of bad odor! I live in Western Washington and we don't have a ton of sunny days, but I put my diapers out every opportunity I get, even in the winter!!! It's not the heat from the sun that's helpful (although it will help the diapers dry quicker), it's the UV rays that have the bacteria killing power.  I've read that UV rays can even reach the diapers on overcast days, and we have plenty of those here.

I can't wait to read other mama's suggestions!

Rockin Green rocks my world

As most of you know, I recently started using cloth diapers exclusively. Well, in order to keep the diapers clean and in good condition, it's necessary to use a detergent without a lot of the ingredients in typical laundry detergents. I've experimented with a couple and my new favorite is: Rockin Green. It's so many good things: vegan, non-toxic, biodegradable, yummy smelling and guaranteed to get the ammonia smell out of the diapers. So, I got to thinking...if it cleans my daughter's pee, why wouldn't it clean my dog's pee as well. The little stinkers had peed on my daughter's pink princess tent and I was furious because I thought I'd have to throw it out. But...I just soaked it overnight in Rockin Green, rinsed and it's as fresh as can be. Thank you Rockin Green, I love you!
